MesoLens privacy policy
Last updated 2026-10-27.
MesoLens is a free, fan-made overlay for MapleStory Classic World, made in Quebec, Canada. This page says what we collect about you, why, where it's kept and what you can ask of us.
Who is responsible
The person in charge of protecting personal information at MesoLens (our privacy officer) is Ramy, reachable at [email protected].
What we collect, and why
- Your account: your email address, the name you choose (your in-game name, if you like) and your password, which we keep only in a scrambled form (a hash) we can't turn back into the password. We use these to sign you in, to recognise you as a supporter, and to write to you about your account.
- Shops you open in the Free Market: the listings, prices, the shop's title and seller name, channel and room, as seen on your screen. These build the shared price database every player uses. They're kept as market data and are not linked to you publicly; we count how many you sent each week (for "earn it").
- How much you use the shared database: how many item lookups and price updates your account asks for each day, to keep the service fair and stop anyone copying the whole database.
- If you subscribe or donate: Stripe, our payment processor, handles the payment and tells us your email, the tier you chose, and whether your subscription is active, renewed or cancelled, so your account gets its perks. We never see your card or bank details: only Stripe does.
- If you choose to show your grinds in the rankings: the name you pick for the rankings, your level, job and the grind's figures.
- If you report a problem (Help > Report a problem): what you write, the email you give us to answer you, your MesoLens and Windows versions and, if you tick the box, MesoLens's log, its settings (without any password, key or sign-in) and the last few pictures of game windows it couldn't read. Only when you click Send.
Everything else MesoLens reads (your character, items, grinds, the deals you see) stays on your own PC.
We don't sell personal information, show ads or use it to profile you.
Consent
We ask for your consent when you make your account. You can withdraw it at any time by deleting your account (MesoLens > Settings > Account > Delete my account), or by writing to us.
Where it's kept
Our database is hosted by Convex (convex.dev) on servers in the United States, so your information leaves Quebec. We chose a provider that protects it with encryption and access controls. Stripe (payments), Cloudflare (our website and email forwarding) and our email provider also process the information they need.
How long
Your account stays until you delete it. Daily usage counts are kept for a few weeks. Shared market data and problem reports are kept for about four months, then deleted.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we have about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, or to get it in a common format. Write to [email protected]; we answer within 30 days. You can also complain to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
Children
Accounts are for people 13 and older. If you're under 13, please don't make an account.
If something goes wrong
If a security incident puts your information at risk of serious harm, we will tell you and the Commission d'accès à l'information as the law requires.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and tell you in MesoLens when the change matters.
